Our intro to scrambling courses are aimed at hillwalkers who would like to explore more technical terrain with confidence. On the course we look at;

Movement over challenging terrain

Basic navigation

Route selection and reading

Emergency procedures

Usually on the second day of the course we aim to tackle a classic scramble like Crib Goch or Tryfan North Ridge.

What to bring?

Essentials;

Waterproof jacket and trousers, warm Layers (fleeces), clothing you can move freely in (eg stretchy sports/walking clothing), stiff soled walking boots, a packed lunch each day, water bottle, rucksack (big enough to carry personal items + some extra equipment), sun cream, hat (Sun/wooly depending on the season), gloves.

Nice to have;

Map and Compass for the area, camera (in a waterproof bag).
On day one of Intro to Scrambling courses we usually meet at Siabod Cafe in Capel Curig to have a short meet and greet before starting the course. The meeting point for the following day will be arranged at the end of the first day.

This course usually start around 9am and aim to be finished around 4:30-5pm. Occasionally we meet at other venues, all meeting points will be confirmed by email a day or two before the course starts (this allows us to plan according to the weather).
